Update 12.31.09
H1N1 is now widespread in 14 states while the percentage of of patient visits reporting influenza-like illness to their physicians continues to be above the national baseline. Residents who have not done so already should take advantage of the slowing of disease transmission to get vaccinated against both H1N1 and seasonal flu. The influenza virus is unpredictable and ensuring everyone is vaccinated will lessen the likelihood of a third wave.
The Franklin County Public Health Department has administered nearly 3,700 H1N1 vaccinations since October 27, 2009. We have also administerd over 1,200 seasonal flu vaccinations so far this season. The large H1N1 PODs are essentially over and we are now distributing vaccine to health care providers in the County. Providers needing vaccine for their patient population should contact us for availability; alternatively they can order their own H1N1 vaccine through the system set up through NY State and the CDC. Vaccine availability has improved significantly in the past few weeks.
Scheduled 2010 PODs (Free and open to the public): Salmon River School Jan 21: 10 AM - 1 PM Franklin Academy Feb 1: 3:30 - 5 PM Tupper Lake - Ivy Terrace Feb 6: 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
Please see below under "Documents" for frequently asked questions and "Links" for additional information related to Seasonal and H1N1 Influenza.
